The city built into the hillside offers a picturesque glimpse into winding alleys, with lovingly furnished houses, shops, and restaurants with cozy outdoor dining inviting you to linger. Whether on a hike or a guided city tour, you can explore the old town and discover many interesting details.
The landscape around Velbert-Langenberg, with its partially natural, partially agriculturally used meadows, deep valleys, and fantastic panoramas, truly resembles the Alps.
Look up towards Langenberg and you will see the transmission towers of the WDR broadcasting facilities. The Langenberg transmitter went into operation on January 15, 1927. Since then, it has become the landmark of the broadcasting city and gave the Hordtberg, as the height is actually called, the new name Senderberg.
