Historischer Rundwanderweg Aichtal

A historical circular hiking trail in the Aichtal forest has been signposted since September 2011. The 4.5 km trail provides insights into the cultural and historical significance of Schönbuch from the Celtic period to the late Middle Ages.

From the starting point, the Aichtal-Neuenhaus sports ground, walk southwest along the Schaichbergweg. After about 800m from the starting point, turn into Steinweg at the crossroads.The clay pits now await you on the right-hand side. This is where the potters from Neuenhaus used to take their pottery clay. This loess clay dates back to the Ice Age. At that time, storms blew the loess dust into our area. Due to the abundance of clay, Duke Ulrich also had master potters from Franconia settle in Neuenhaus. In 1878, there were 78 master potters in the pottery stronghold of Neuenhaus, where the potters' guild was based. The potters were allowed to sell their wares at foreign markets and through peddling in other towns.About 700m further along the Steinweg is one of the grave mounds. It dates back to a time between 800-400 BC

After the lake on the right-hand side, continue along the Steinweg until you turn right onto the Mönchsbuckelweg. Follow this path for about one kilometer. There are now three stalking ditches on the left-hand side, two of which are a little further away from the path. The stalking ditches were created to enable hunters to better stalk woodland pastures.

Follow the Mönchsbuckelweg further on. There is a Celtic grave mound before and after the junction of the Mönchbuckelweg and the Schaichbergsträßle.

Finally, turn into Dettenhäuser Weg and you will soon reach the starting point at the sports field again.

The Mönchsbuckelhütte is halfway along the route and has a barbecue area where you can take a leisurely break.</p
