This tour does not require any physical strength, even if there are a few major and minor climbs to contend with. The trail leads through the varied forest landscape, many small valleys and viewpoints in the foothills of the high forest and opens up places of historical and scenic interest.
The circular trail leads along varied paths through a challenging hilly landscape. Many small notch valleys and viewpoints, combined with shady spruce and mixed forests, but also mighty individual trees make the trail particularly attractive. The bear has left its mark on the naming of the trail. The names "Bärental", "Bärenhöhle" and "Bärenfels" are still used today. History has left its mark along the entire route. You will pass numerous historical boundary stones, the "Messerbrunnen", a spring sanctuary from Celtic times, the "Dicke Eiche", with a circumference of 4.20 m, burial mounds and a sand quarry and a quarry that are no longer in use.
The name "Bärenpfad" (Bear Trail) derives from the historical use of the Rosenwald forest as a hunting ground for the sovereigns, who were the Dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken for centuries.
