From the parking lot at the Buchwaldhalle (alternatively from the handicapped-accessible parking lot a little further down), the trail leads over 3 km through the Buchwald forest and past the "Black Pond".
All the main tree species can be found here in a very small area: over 250-year-old Buchwald larches, over 100-year-old Douglas firs, 180-year-old and older beeches and oaks, ash trees, large silver firs and pines. Information boards along one section of the trail provide information about the local flora and fauna.
