The easy trail starts at the entrance to Amorbach-Beuchen directly from the hiking parking lot at the Brandweiher pond. The trail can be hiked on a northern or southern loop around the hilltop village of Beuchen. In the center of the village, the popular hiking hut awaits hikers with a selection of drinks and a cosy common room.
Way description:
Shortly before entering Beuchen, turn right to the hiking parking lot. You can park your car there.
From the hiking parking lot, the B9 markings lead onto the Quellenweg trail.
Those walking the northern loop will pass orchards and then reach the Müllersbrunnen fountain at the edge of the forest. There, a seating area invites you to take your first break. At a beautiful wayside shrine made of red sandstone, the path leads downhill to the left into the forest. A narrow forest path leads uphill again towards Beuchen. Note the numerous boundary stones in the forest, which mark both the border of the former Kingdom of Bavaria and that of the town of Amorbach. Passing the natural monument of the oak tree, the trail leads straight into the hilltop village of Beuchen. Right at the entrance to the village, you will come across the Bauer distillery, which is particularly famous for its Wildsautropfen schnapps.
In Beuchen itself, you can stop off at the hikers' hut. Drinks are available in the fridge and you can recharge your batteries for the southern loop of the spring trail in the cozy guest room.
After the hikers' hut, it is worth taking a look at the beautiful village church of Beuchen with a ceiling fresco of the 14 emergency helpers.
A panoramic lounger awaits you at the edge of the forest to enjoy the beautiful view of Beuchen and the surrounding valleys. A massive stone cross along the way poses a puzzle. Who could have erected it at this beautiful viewpoint? A few hundred meters further on, you will find the Hesselbrunnen fountain on the left. You then come to the romantic Kohlwald-Brünnle in the middle of the forest.
A narrow hiking trail leads along the former border between Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. A stone wall marks the former road fortifications. Finally, the Quellenweg leads out of the forest again, past an impressive wayside shrine in the middle of the field to the Riegelbrunnen, the last fountain on the Quellenweg. Afterwards, follow the B9 back to the hiking parking lot at the Zum Brandweiher inn.
