Gottersdorf-Wanderung

The hiking trail, which mainly runs along quiet forest paths, offers numerous cultural and historical gems with numerous wayside shrines, a mysterious stone coffin and boundary stones. The highlight of the hike is the Odenwald Open-Air Museum in Gottersdorf, where you can enjoy refreshments in the small restaurant and then take a look around the open-air museum.

Way description:
The well-marked hiking trail begins in Schneeberg at the town hall and then leads through orchards into the forest. From there, the trail climbs steadily uphill to Gottersdorf, the destination of the hike. The hiking trail is repeatedly lined with lovingly maintained wayside shrines made of red sandstone. You can also admire a centuries-old stone coffin that was forgotten in the forest. Finally, the village of Walldürn-Gottersdorf can be seen from afar.
The Odenwald Open-Air Museum is located here. It is open from April to October and offers insights into the lives of people in past centuries. The open-air museum offers refreshments with drinks and simple dishes.
After visiting the museum, the circular route leads back to Schneeberg. The route is mostly downhill. It is worth paying a visit to the small village church of Gottersdorf with its special ceiling frescoes on the way back.
The way back runs alongside the track of the Westfrankenbahn railway for quite a while. Schneeberg can be seen in the valley from afar.
