Description

The hike starts with a highlight: the solar observatory. The circular path leads you through deciduous forests, past orchards and fields, with a wide view of the landscape.
Along the way, you can enjoy the view into the Saaleaue valley, towards Goseck Castle and the vineyards.
The sleepy village of Eulau with the Eulau manor is also worth a visit.

Route description

In Heiligtalgrund, there is a turnoff at the "old waterworks" offering another option to reach the "Eichenwald" via a lovely forest path, and further through an old cherry plantation with a view of Eulau. The unmarked route is included in the hiking map of the green heart. The hike invites you to take many detours/crossings, with small surprises along the way, e.g. an old boundary stone, indicating that passage will be punished with a payment of 3 Marks - well, if that doesn't tempt you to trespass. The turnoff leads to Silbertalgrund, where in spring the March lilies are in full bloom. A highlight is of course Goseck Castle, definitely worth a visit, as well as the information center for the solar observatory. There are options to connect to other hiking trails, such as the circular route around Goseck. An important tip for orientation before starting the hike: in the center of Goseck, there is an information board with the illustration of the hiking trails around Goseck.

Parking information

At the entrance of Goseck, on the left side, use the parking lot of the solar observatory. The parking lot at the castle has only a limited number of spaces.
