Short description

The Finne is the eastern extension of the Harz Mountains, which extends as a ridge through the Saale-Unstrut region.

Description

The hiking trail runs from Weißenfels through the most beautiful section of the region, skims the Unstrut Valley with its uniquely beautiful terraced vineyards and sandstone vineyard houses in Blütengrund near Naumburg, and leaves the Saale Valley near Bad Sulza after visiting the Rudelsburg and Burg Saaleck. Soon you will see Eckartsburg from Auerstedt. Along the ridge of the Finne, the trail continues through wonderful forest areas to Rastenberg via Marienthal. From Burgwenden, the trail leads through beautiful deciduous forests directly on the ridge with views to the north and south, reaching the Unstrut Gorge in Sachsenburg - the hiking destination and starting point of the Hainleitewanderweg.

NOTE: Currently, the trail between Eckartsberga/Marienthal and Rastenberg is only partially usable due to changes in the forest, logging, and sections of private property along the trail.
