Bästenhardter ExtraTour: Durch das Butzenbachtal zum Butzensee und nach Bad Sebastiansweiler

A mostly quiet, scenically varied circular route that is suitable for hiking, MTB or running due to the nature of the path. The route is partly sunny (meadows, orchards) and partly shady (forest).

The predominantly wider field and forest paths are ideal for groups who want to exchange ideas along the way.

Bästenhardt is Mössingen's youngest and largest district with around 4,800 inhabitants (apart from the town center). Only developed at the beginning of the 1960s adjacent to Belsen and north of the railroad line, Bästenhardt has few sights, but plenty of greenery. This includes the beautiful Bästenhardt forest to the west, through which this route leads.

The spa park in Bad Sebastiansweiler, which is visited at the end of the route, offers old trees, a barefoot path, a mini golf course and a children's playground as well as plenty of benches to relax on. You can enjoy a drink, snack or ice cream in the Café Atrium or kiosk (main entrance).

Local/temporary disruptions (detour, noise, dust) must be expected until around mid-2024 due to major construction work on the Bad Sebastiansweiler site.

The famous sulphur water can be tasted in the historic drinking pavilion, which is located in nearby Bästenhardt. The sulphur springs there are a geopoint of the UNESCO Swabian Alb Geopark. There is also a medicinal herb garden right next to it. Both are freely accessible during the day.
