The Brackenheim round tour - experience the wine town of Brackenheim by bike on a round tour through all districts with many possible start and end points along the route.
Eight parts, one whole - the unifying motto of the eight Brackenheim districts.
Karl Seither and Emil Veigel, both enthusiastic cyclists - and Brackenheim residents, developed the culturally diverse and scenic cycle route together "to present all the districts with their refreshment stops and sights". It is intended to be a way for all citizens and tourists in Brackenheim to explore the entire town in a sporty way. The first joint ride along the original circular route took place in June 1995, "easy and with little incline". Connections to supra-local cycle paths are also possible. The newly signposted 26 km on today's Brackenheim circular tour offer you a wonderful route through colorful vineyards in the Ländle and all eight suburbs of Brackenheim!
You can start the tour in any part of the town. The generous signposting takes you easily and safely through the Heuss and wine town with its seven districts. Cycle past the market square in the city center and marvel at the historic town hall. Then make a stop at the Theodor Heuss Museum in Obertorstraße to learn more about the life of the first President of the Federal Republic of Germany, who was born and spent his early years here in Brackenheim. On the way, take the opportunity to stop at the local history museum in Botenheim. Then discover the Old Wine Press in Meimsheim and, on the onward journey, the Jupiter Giant Column in Hausen an der Zaber, which allows you to catch a glimpse of Roman culture in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. In Dürrenzimmern, explore the small animal world behind the Maria Magdalena Church, which dates back to three different eras. Continue your tour through the vineyards, past the impressive Neipperg Castle and the old wine press with its jolly man in a barrel in Haberschlacht. Admire the view of Stocksberg Castle and enjoy the beauty of our wine villages as a whole.
How about some time out in between? Immerse yourself in the world of fine wines - where they originate. On Sundays and public holidays, the wine taverns at Zweifelberg, Mönchsbergsee and Hüttle am Bühl in the vineyards invite you to take a break and unwind. There are also typical Swabian broom taverns and other refreshment stops on every corner to recharge your batteries for the next stages.
