NorthWestBahn Tour

The private NordWestBahn leads out of the city of Osnabrück in the Osnabrück region heading north - if you wish, all the way to the North Sea. However, our tour description ends in the castle and Hanseatic town of Quakenbrück. Here you can turn it into a round trip by taking the train back or you can approach it the other way around. Even though the train tracks are always in sight, the nature experience during the journey is by no means neglected. So, on several sections, you will also pass through the rabbit plains with sand dunes in the nature reserve near Wallenhorst-Hollage and the highly interesting Tuchmacher Museum at Mühlenort in Bramsche. The advantage of the train-oriented route for you is that you do not have to overcome any inclines. So, north of Bramsche, you continue straight ahead along the west bank of the Alfsee, which owes its origin to flood protection reasons. Today, the Alfsee and the extensive area around it have developed into a popular leisure and holiday paradise. The following town of Bersenbrück offers everything a cyclist's heart desires: many restaurants, bicycle rental, a swimming pool, a museum, and a beautiful recreational area right on the Hase River. So feel free to take a break here. Ahead of you now unfolds the wide park landscape of Artland, and you may be able to admire one or the other typical Artland farmstead with its ornate half-timbered construction. Not only the half-timbered buildings leave a lasting impression, also in the city center of Quakenbrück. Discover all the sights by following the "Poggenpad", the striking green frog traces, on a 3.5 km walk through the city.
