The primeval valley of the Wallsbek

11.6 km - 2:15 h | Starting point: Parking lot at the district administration, Meyner Straße, Schafflund

The circular route is signposted as a permanent hiking trail (PWW). From the parking lot, turn left into Meyner Straße and cross Nordhackstedter Straße. You are now on Buchauweg. Before the Danish school, turn right onto a footpath, cross the Meynau and come to the main road, which you cross. Keep left and then turn right into Bahnhofsring. Follow the road, which turns right before the tracks. At a crossroads, turn left and cross the tracks of a disused railroad line. Turn right into Norderlückenweg. At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead. You are now walking on an unsurfaced path along the tracks towards Wallsbüll. After 1.5 km you cross a tarred road. A little later you cross a gravel road, turn left here and then right at the next fork. The path bends to the right at the end and takes you back to the tracks. Keep left here and you will reach Wallsbüll. At the main road, turn right through the village. Cross under the main road (towards Großenwiehe) and keep right. At the edge of the forest, a path on the right leads into the Wallsbek valley. Cross a bridge to reach the northern bank of the water and then keep left. A little later, cross another bridge back to the south bank and keep right. Continue to follow the signs. At the edge of the forest, the path turns right, you come back into the forest and soon cross the Wallsbek again. Continue left on a well-maintained nature trail towards Schafflund until you reach Mühlendamm. Turn left towards the watermill and continue across the courtyard.
