Goldsteig N 03 Falkenberg – Neuhaus

With its 1000-year-old castle, a wobbling stone and a historic Zoiglbier brewery, Falkenberg is ideal for a short tour of the town. At the Hammermühle, the Waldnaab valley becomes a nature reserve - the approx. 180 ha area offers a pure nature experience: the riverside path between the log cabin and Neuhaus is a real adventure playground, information boards tell of legends and castles, the 12 km long Canõn made of granite rocks up to 40 m high is more than impressive, the idyllically situated log cabin under old chestnut trees with beer garden and water wheel on the banks of the Waldnaab invites you to take a break (closed on Mondays). Impressive rock formations, small river sills, natural stone weirs with swirl holes, small floodplain landscapes and moors line the route. Past the Waldfriedenhütte (only occasionally open) to where the Fichtelnaab flows into the Waldnaab, then just a short steep climb and the hiker is at the entrance to the hospitable Zoigl capital of Neuhaus/Windischeschenbach.
