This day hike leads mainly through the Schwarzach Valley. There is a great view right at the start - on a clear day, you can see Čerchov (1042 m) with its striking tower, at the foot of which lies Waldmünchen, the destination of the day's stage. First, however, the hiker comes to the Eixendorf reservoir, where the Upper Palatinate Craft Museum (and a cozy museum tavern) can be visited with a short detour. The route then leads leisurely through the wide Schwarzach valley, sometimes directly along the river, but mostly along the edge of the forest with views of tranquil little villages. Shortly before Waldmünchen, the Burgenweg and Goldsteig separate, with the last section leading hikers via Prosdorf, the "Maria hilf" chapel, a Way of the Cross and an avenue of chestnut trees to the rococo church in Herzogau.
