The third stage of the gravel bike tour from Furth im Wald to Regensburg runs on the Trans Bayerwald until about halfway through, which gives you a few more steep ramps before you change to the Falkenstein cycle path at Losenhof. This is also known as the Falkensteiner Bockerl, where an old steam locomotive puffed along between 1913 and 1984. You roll down this path along the disused railroad line towards Regensburg. With its fragrant, shady forest passages and towering rock faces, the Falkenstein cycle path is one of the most beautiful excursion routes in the Vorderer Bayerischer Wald. Railroad relics, rest areas and adventure stations line the route.
