The Mappacher Hof is located directly on the Goldsteig trail. Today, the trail first leads through a larger forest area, the Einsiedler Forst, up to the Magdalenen Chapel. There, the nature park administration has set up an educational forest trail, which hikers follow to the idyllic Waldhaus Einsiedel restaurant. This is a good place to take a break. After the break, the trail continues slightly downhill to the Regental valley with the monastery town of Reichenbach. The monastery complex here is one of the most important architectural monuments in the region. Inside the mighty Romanesque basilica, the fine, rich Baroque style deserves special attention. Particularly worth seeing: frescoes and altarpieces. Finally, you head over to today's stage town of Walderbach, about 2 km off the Goldsteig.
