Goldsteig N 21 Haidmühle – Breitenberg

The Goldsteig trail runs below Haidmühle (1 km) in the direction of the former Triftklause at the foot of the Dreisessel before leading hikers to the next ascent. The view from the summit of the Dreisessel is a reward for the very steep section in the last third. After a refreshment stop at the refuge, one of the most beautiful and interesting sections of the Goldsteig lies ahead of the hiker: the Adalbert Stifter Trail leads us over the rocky slopes of the Steinernes Meer with huge slabs of rock and granite boulders. In ideal and clear weather conditions, you can even see as far as the Alps from here. The Goldsteig crosses the Austrian border - then back into the valley - shortly after the Lackenhäuser campsite. After approx. 8 km in Austria, the hiker crosses the border stream into Bavaria, comes to the hammer mill on the Gegenbach and climbs the Höpfelberg to today's stage Breitenberg.
