Radweg München-Regensburg-Prag

From the "English Garden" over the "Stone Bridge" to the "Golden City". A very scenic tour (approx. 470 km) connects not only the major European cities of Munich, Regensburg and Prague, but also Germany and the Czech Republic. On the Bavarian side, the route runs away from traffic on cycle paths along rivers such as the Isar, Abens, Danube and Regen, while on the Bohemian side it follows small side roads. From Munich, the route follows the Isar cycle path (approx. 40 km) to beyond the old episcopal town of Freising. Near the village of Marzling, the Abens cycle path (65 km) branches off in the direction of Mainburg - Kelheim - Bad Gögging. From there, take the Danube cycle path (approx. 40 km) to Regensburg. From the old imperial city of Regensburg (UNESCO World Heritage Site) to the "Golden City" of Prague, the route follows an ancient trade route on which flint stones were transported to Bohemia many thousands of years ago, the Feuerstein-Straße. Signposted as the Regental cycle path, the route then takes cyclists to the Bavarian Forest metropolis of Cham (approx. 70 km), continuing along the Chambtal cycle path (approx. 22 km) to the dragon sting town of Furth im Wald. From here, the German-Czech border is only a few kilometers away. On the Bohemian side, the route runs past towns such as Domazlice or Kolevec and Dobřany in the direction of Pilsen, world-famous for its long beer tradition. Once you have passed Rokycany, the route reaches the Vienna-Prague cycle path at Hořovice. Near Karlstein Castle, cyclists immerse themselves in the romantic Berounka river valley, which flows into the Vltava shortly before Prague. Our tip: The Bohemian section is more demanding in terms of fitness than the Bavarian section. You should also plan enough time for the cultural highlights along the way.
