Description by the author

At the starting point in the center of Chammünster, north of the parish church, a lamppost points left into Pfarrer-Mandl-Straße towards the farm. The route goes slightly uphill past the sports field. Before you turn left into Lamberger Straße, you can take a short break on the right at the "Kapellenlinde" natural monument and the wayside shrines. After the break, continue straight ahead towards the parking lot, past a hiking trail overview board, towards the forest. The Ch3 hiking trail runs together with the Friedrich-Nietzsche-Weg for a short distance until the paths then run in different directions. Follow the white and red markings to the right. Follow an old but easy forest path, which later narrows into a path, through an idyllic deciduous forest to an asphalt road. Follow this road to the left, accompanied by a few shrines, until you reach the mountain summit with an inn and the pilgrimage church of St. Walburga. The votive tablets inside the church are well worth a visit. The view towards the Bavarian Forest is also not to be missed. The route now continues past the prehistoric ramparts, which are evidence of former settlements, downhill along forest paths to the forest road. Continue in a north-westerly direction on the forest road, which soon turns into forest paths. Always following the white and red markings, you leave the forest and can enjoy the wonderful view over Chammünster and the Regental valley. After the water reservoir, turn right into the forest, then immediately right again and continue along the asphalt road until the white and red markings direct you to the left to the "Ödenturm" ruins. Next to the Totenbrettern, you will come to the "Am Ödenturm" inn on a path hidden behind an overgrown wall. Follow the road "Am Öden Turm" northwards to the main road. Here the signpost points towards the center of the village to the starting point. There, a visit to St. Mary's Minster, also known as the original church of the Upper Bavarian Forest, St. Anne's Chapel and the charnel house (Karner) marks the end of the hike.
