Zwirenzelsteig

This path initially follows the mountain road to the Schönberger estate at the edge of the forest. There, the path turns right past the Gleißenberg water supply reservoir and leads down a romantic forest path towards Wiegenbachtal. Before that, however, the path turns left into Prosdorfer Forst. The trail heads northwest along forest paths and forest roads until it reaches a tranquil forest meadow between Sauruck and Hinterem Hiener. From there, the trail descends slightly to the village of Machtesberg, where you can stop for refreshments. From Machtesberg, the trail leads to the Zwirenzel, a hilltop about 1 km away with a summit cross, resting places for leisurely snacks and wonderful views. After the summit circuit with a second view in the direction of Schwarzwihr near Rötz, you can return to Gleißenberg via various hiking trails.
