Kolmsteiner Höhenweg

This very beautiful trail begins in Höllhöhe at the Waldschlößl vacation hotel and can be reached on foot via the Nk5 or by car on the pass road from Neukirchen b.Hl.Blut. At the parking lot at the Waldschlößl we walk towards the district road CHA46, next to which we turn left until we reach a gravel path. Here we pass the Höllkreuz. We walk through the slopes of the Höllkreuz ski area in the direction of Kolmstein on a shady forest path. On the Kolmsteiner-Höhe we find a small church and the Kolmsteiner Hof inn (closed on Mon and Tue) with a wonderful view of the Freibachtal valley and the Hohenbogen-Winkel. We walk past the inn in the direction of Absetz, again on a shady forest path and arrive at Gasthof Tanneneck. From Tanneneck, the hike can be continued on the Nk25 or the markings with the black dot in the red field to Rittsteig or on the Nk13 via Unterkaltenhofstraße to Mais. We walk downhill on the tarred road in Mais and turn left onto the Nk5, which leads along a stream to Kolmstein and from there back to Höllhöhe (as a circular hike Nk9 - Nk13 - Nk5 approx. 10 km).
