Schneeschuhtour Rund um den Gibacht, DSV-zertifiziert

The Gibacht is known throughout the region as a starting point for cross-country skiers and snowshoe hikers. This is the start of our short tour, which takes us past various viewpoints in our beautiful Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park. We set off with our snowshoes from Berghaus Gibacht (850 m) and walk the first 300 m uphill along a forest path to the starting hut (please walk to the side and watch out for cross-country skiers on their way down). From there, snowshoe tour no. 3 (red markings) leads uphill again through many beech and spruce trees to the so-called "Bredahittn", a shelter hut where many alpine and cross-country skiing competitions used to be held. Here we take the right-hand path (follow the markings), continue for approx. 300 meters and take a sharp right along a newly created small path, which is particularly challenging in winter in deep snow. We cross the cross-country ski trail and walk along the former trail to the glass cross on the Reißeck. In fine weather, you have a fantastic view of the Drachensee lake and the Bavarian Forest mountains Hohenbogen, Osser and the king of the Bavarian Forest, the Arber. After a short rest, the trail descends slightly and crosses the Gibacht 3 trail again. Now we hike uphill to the "Lighthouse of Humanity", which was built by the Gibacht landlord Ralf Wenzl and from which you have a wonderful view of Gleißenberg in Bavaria. The last few meters from the Tannenriegel are all downhill to the Berghof Gibacht. Here you can round off the beautiful tour with coffee and cake or a snack.
