Gibacht Loipe 2, DSV-zertifiziert

Classic and skating; Gibacht trail 2 is a little more challenging and therefore falls into the "medium" category. It is two and a half kilometers long with a total ascent of 73 meters and an altitude difference of 59 meters. From the start house, the route is relatively flat until the first ascent after around 400 meters. Passing a hut in the forest, the terrain rises slightly until you reach a saddle where the hiking trail runs between the Drei-Wappen rock and the Kreuzfelsen rock. A sign points the way here and also indicates that there are still 1.6 kilometers to go from here. The widened trail in this section runs below the Kreuzfelsen (if you are careful, you can even catch a glimpse of the Kreuzfelsen with the summit cross) and leads to a forest road on which the terrain climbs up to the right. Once at the top, there is first a right-hand bend and soon after a sharp left-hand bend before the trail descends slightly to the starting point. Both bends offer wonderful views, which you should enjoy by slowing down a little or even stopping in between (Text: Karl Reitmeier). Together with the towns of Furth im Wald and Waldmünchen and the Czech region of Domažlicko, the Safety in Skiing Foundation (SIS) and the German Ski Association (DSV) have been working to improve the quality of the cross-country ski trail network in the Upper Bavarian Forest/Bohemian Forest in recent years. The trails have been certified as a cross-border DSV nordic active center according to international criteria, signposted with a uniform system and equipped with information boards.
