Start is the parking lot at the sports field in Rittsteig. We walk in the direction of Hanger. At the edge of the forest, we turn right onto the forest path to Hangerberg. Here we strap on our snowshoes and climb up to the Hangerkapelle chapel at the top of the Hangerberg. The trail continues along the Way of the Cross down through the forest. After the last station on the Way of the Cross, we keep to the right and return to the meadow and then back to the sports field.
