Goldsteig S 11 Walderbach – Falkenstein

Via Reichenbach, you return to the Goldsteig trail. Below the monastery, the hiker follows a beautiful path deeper and deeper into the forest. The fantastic summit of the Pfaffenstein - a striking rock formation - is the first destination: a bench here invites you to take a break. Krottenthal, the remains of an old quarry and the Lobenstein castle ruins, which are well worth seeing, are the next stops. It's worth climbing the tower - the view over the landscape is magnificent! The route continues via Zell, Woppmansberg and Mantelberg to Birkenau, where another short detour is worthwhile - to the Heiligenkammer, a rock bastion and natural monument. The next highlight is the striking Marienstein church, from where Falkenstein Castle can be seen. The route then continues over the Lauberberg to today's stage destination of Falkenstein. You should take your time to explore the enchanting, mystical surroundings of the Lauberberg: the hanging erratic blocks, specially shaped granite and boulders and pre-Christian cult sites create a magical atmosphere.
