Goldsteig N 07 Tännesberg – Oberviechtach

Immediately after descending from the Schlossberg in Tännesberg, hikers come to the geological nature trail, which is of great geological interest. The pilgrimage church of St. Jodok is also very close by: Every year on the fourth Sunday in July, the horse pilgrimage "St. Jodok-Ritt" takes place here with over 200 horses. The Goldsteig trail leads into the Tännesberg forest and on to the summit of Wildenstein with its castle stable. When the pilgrimage church of St. Jakob is reached, a mini-pilgrimage has also been completed: After all, the Goldsteig is identical to the Way of St. James on this stretch. The Goldsteig leads past the edge of Oberviechtach - but the festival town offers itself as a stage destination with many sights worth seeing: The historical and scientific background to gold mining, for example, is explained in the Doctor Eisenbarth and Town Museum in Oberviechtach. Try your luck at panning for gold and catch gold fever on the gold hike (register at the tourist information office). A new feature is the gold nature trail through the historic mining areas.
