Rundwanderweg Kaitersberg - Kötztinger Hütte

Kaitersberg - "The classic" with alpine character: The hiking trail leads you around the fortified church and along the Reitensteiner Straße uphill along rustic paths to Reitenberg, where clearings repeatedly open up the view to Bad Kötzting. Passing the former "Köppl" restaurant, you continue on steep climbs up the wooded eastern slope of the Kaitersberg ridge to the Kreuzfelsen (999 m) with its summit cross visible from afar. On the sun-drenched slabs of rock, you can get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the magnificent view of the dark mountain ranges and the wide valleys. Downhill after a short, steeper passage, along the rocky precipices of the Pfarrerstuhl and the cave of the legendary robber Heigl, you finally reach the Plattenstein, which once again offers a view into the distance. The trail then winds its way to the Maiberg wasteland and on towards Arndorf. After another 4 kilometers you reach the town of Bad Kötzting again. An absolute must is the ridge hike from the Kreuzfelsen to the Kötztinger Hütte with a cozy stop for refreshments. From the Mittagstein (1040 m) with its chapel you can even see the Alps in good weather.
