Durchs Höllbachtal

This wild and romantic hike offers a refreshment stop at the "Holznersmühle" in Ober-Höllgrund.

Start at the former "Ittertal" inn, 300 m along the K 4114, cross under the railroad line at the red St. Andrew's cross, then gently

ascend along the Höllbach stream to the junction towards Waldkatzenbach (signpost). From here, there is an extremely steep ascent to the point where the Katzenbuckel comes into view on the right. After a sharp turn to the left, the nature park trail joins the "red St. Andrew's cross". Here you walk along a forest road to Holznersmühle. After a rest, the two nature park trails no. 39 and no. 40 lead eastwards; after about 800 m, trail no. 40 turns left into the forest and uphill on a forest road until the yellow double line (||) appears after about 1.5 km. Turn left here and walk downhill on the Rennweg trail through the forest back to the starting point.

Info: Who knows that the Katzenbuckel, at 626 m the highest point in the Odenwald, is an extinct volcano? Since an eruption more than 60 million years ago, it has been considered a geological feature.
