Fernradweg Via Claudia Augusta in Bayern

The Via Claudia Augusta once began in the port of Altinum near Venice and continued via the Reschen pass, Landeck, Imst and the Fernpass to the Danube to Donauwörth.

It was also one of the most important north-south connections after the Romans. The associated earning opportunities, trade and encounters with travelers from many countries shaped the people along this route. The most diverse regions and cultures still meet here today and make a cycle tour in the footsteps of the Romans so exciting.

Numerous attractions are strung together like shining pearls on a necklace: starting with picturesque Donauwörth at the starting point of the tour, with Augsburg, which dates back to Roman times, and romantic Neuschwanstein Castle. In the mountains, the European Castle World Ehrenberg and the picturesque Fernpass await at the gateway to Tyrol in Reutte. The wild and romantic valley landscapes are followed by the House of Carnival in Imst, the Tyrolean Water World in Zams, the Flow Archaeological Museum, ... before heading up to the Reschen Pass via Finstermünz. The route continues over this centuries-old pass road to South Tyrol, past the idyllic Lake Reschen and down the southern side of the Alps to Merano and Bolzano.

From the historic city of Trento, you can either head to the former Roman harbor in Altino near Venice (more varied, but with a few hills, for which there will hopefully soon be a shuttle) or Ostiglia on the Po river. A bike hike on a route that the Romans once traveled.
