Description by the author

From the main square, you start to the south and branch off into the wildlife park before the Karolinenbrücke bridge. Past the Kneipp facility, wild boar and deer enclosure, the trail climbs gently through the hillside forest to a viewpoint above the Lech. A pretty gorge leads down to the Teufelsküche inn on the riverside path. This is followed by Pöring Castle (now privately owned), in whose castle church Dominikus Zimmermann also tried his hand at painting, as well as the parish church in Pitzling, which is well worth seeing and has a Schmuzer altar from the Wessobrunn monastery. A field path leads out into the meadows and to the river, where a steep climb leads up the Lechrain. A shady place to have a snack awaits you at a spring; there was once a Celtic redoubt nearby. Further forest paths lead to the high ridge with a viewpoint of barrage 13 and the Lech valley, on some days the mountains can already be seen emerging from the mist behind it. You soon reach Mundraching.

Wegbeschreibung:

The LechErlebnisWeg begins at the picturesque main square in Landsberg, largely following the course of the river and ending at the Lechfalll near Füssen. It can also be walked in the opposite direction.

Landsberg is best explored on a guided walk through the old town. The old town stretches between the banks of the Lech and the steep slope, with over 30 towers and gates still preserved in the former fortifications. The Gothic Bayertor gate, built in 1425, is outstanding and offers a magnificent view over the town and countryside as far as the Alps.

The magnificent churches are also worth seeing, especially the parish church with its rich works of art. Famous names can be found here, such as the Landsberg sculptor family Luidl, the Wessobrunn masters Johann and Joseph Schmuzer and Dominikus Zimmermann, who also created St. John's Church, the rosary altar and the playful town hall façade on the main square. The Herkomermuseum in Von-Kühlmann-Straße 2 is always worth a visit.

Below the rushing Lech weir is the beautiful Inselbad in the river bend, and the romantic alleyways of the old town with numerous open-air restaurants are also waiting to be discovered.

From the main square, you start south and branch off into the Wildpark before the Karolinenbrücke bridge. Past the Kneipp facility, wild boar and deer enclosure, the trail climbs slightly through the hillside forest to a viewpoint over the Lech. A pretty gorge leads down to the Teufelsküche inn on the riverside path. This is followed by Pöring Castle (now privately owned), in whose castle church Dominikus Zimmermann also tried his hand at painting, as well as the parish church in Pitzling, which is well worth a visit and has a Schmuzer altar from Wessobrunn Abbey.

A field path leads out into the meadows and to the river, where you climb the Lechrain via a steep path. A shady place to have a snack awaits at a spring; there was once a Celtic redoubt nearby. Further forest paths lead to the high ridge with a viewpoint of barrage 13 and the Lech valley, on some days the mountains can already be seen emerging from the mist behind it. Soon after, Mundraching is reached.
