Westschleife "Wilde Flüsse" - Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel

Daily stage 1: Hoher Peißenberg - Ammerschlucht - Rottenbuch, 14 km

We hike from Hoher Peißenberg to Rottenbuch on sometimes challenging paths. The section through the wild and romantic Ammerschlucht gorge in particular requires safe walking on the narrow, sometimes steep paths. A cultural and historical highlight awaits us at the end with the former collegiate church of the Rottenbuch monastery.

Daily stage 2: Rottenbuch - Wildsteig - Wieskirche - Steingaden, 15 km

Outstanding cultural sights await us on the way from Rottenbuch to Steingaden. On the way, we pass the Lourdes Grotto in Wildsteig and the world-famous Wieskirche, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the start and finish points, the former monastery church and the Welfenmünster are well worth a visit. The Brettleweg trail through the Wiesfilz near the pilgrimage church of the same name is particularly scenic.

Stage 3: Steingaden - Auerberg, 18 km

The mostly well-maintained paths lead us from Steingaden to the Auerberg with St. George's Church, which can be seen from afar. After initially walking along the idyllic Urspringer Lech reservoir, we enjoy a fantastic mountain panorama almost all the way from Lechbruck towards Auerberg.

Daily stage 4: Auerberg - Burggen, 13.5 km

The varied route from Auerberg to Burggen begins with an exciting descent via the Jägersteig trail and the wildly romantic Feuersteinschlucht gorge to Bernbeuren. We later hike through wide meadows and fields on quiet paths towards Burggen.

Daily stage 5: Burggen - Altenstadt - Schongau, 12.5 km

On the way from Burggen to Schongau with its medieval old town, the Litzauer Schleife to the east of Burggen is a scenic highlight and the Romanesque basilica in Altenstadt is a historical and cultural highlight of the western Pfaffenwinkel.

Stage 6: Hohenpeißenberg - Hoher Peißenberg, 2.5 km

The ascent from Hohenpeißenberg to the panoramic mountain of the same name once again saps our strength. The rooty and stepped path leads steeply in parts through the forest up to the pilgrimage church on the Hoher Peißenberg, which can be seen from afar and towers above the village.
