Etappe 2, Ostschleife, Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel - Von Weilheim nach Bernried

Author's tip: The cool waters of Lake Starnberg are a welcome refreshment on hot days.

Safety information: The wooden path in the lake area is very slippery when wet!

Equipment: Sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.

Way description: We start the second stage at the church square in Weilheim and take the path to St. Salvator Church in the cemetery before leaving Weilheim in a south-easterly direction. On the promenade path along Weilheim's local mountain, the Gögerl, we walk along a forest path to Deutenhausen. In this hamlet, we turn right at the first opportunity and follow a narrow road to Marnbach. At St. Michael's Church, we turn left and leave the village again. We soon come to the picturesque St. Michael's Chapel, which is located on the left on a spacious green area. We now cross an extensive area of moorland and forest before reaching Magnetsried. At the church of St. Margatetha on the main road, we turn left again. Via Hübschmühle and Jenhausen, where the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary towers high above the village, we reach the Bernrieder Filz nature reserve. We walk along several lakes and reach Bernried. The monastery complex, the destination of this stage, is located near Lake Starnberg. The monastery, a former Augustinian monastery, is now an educational center of the Benedictine Missionary Sisters. In addition to the area around the monastery, Bernrieder Park is also worth a visit.
