Etappe 8, Ostschleife, Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel - Von Peißenberg zum Hohen Peißenberg

Author's tip: On the Hoher Peißenberg, you can enjoy the gigantic view of the Alps from the sun terrace of the Rigi restaurant!

Way description: We start the final stage of the long-distance hiking trail at the Böbinger Ammerbrücke bridge, which we cross under before following the course of the river. After passing the B472, the mostly very steep ascent to the summit of the Hoher Peißenberg begins. The well-signposted hiking trail leads us to the St. Georg chapel. If you get the key for the chapel from the nearby farmer, you can admire the fresco cycle of St. George inside the building. We continue to the Weinbauer farm before reaching the plateaus, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Alpine foothills and the mountain peaks. At the wayside cross near Oberschwaig, you can look back on the route you have covered as well as the magnificent Alpine panorama. Various sights can be visited at the busy mountain summit. The pilgrimage church in particular is a special gem.
