Description by the author

We hike through the grounds of the former State Garden Show to the district of Fröschbrunn. We then head downhill in the high forest over the Kaltbucher Knock with the Lucas Cranach Tower (view) on an old road to Weißenbrunn, the beer village in the Franconian Forest. And again our hiking trail leads us steeply uphill over the wooded heights to Fischbach. Now we hike on a mostly forest-free trail through varied landscapes with wonderful views and long-distance vistas on always pleasant paths over the heights to Vogtendorf and further over the beautiful valley landscape of the Rodach and in its wide bottom to the rafting village of Unterrodach. We return to our starting point via the Rennesberg lime tree, which was toppled by Kyrill, and Dörfles in the valley of the Kronach. In addition to the historical evidence of the medieval town of Kronach, the summer toboggan run in Fröschbrunn, the Lucas Cranach Tower, the Jungfer Kättl fountain in Weißenbrunn, the rafting museum in Unterrodach, the hedgerow landscape around the Kreuzberg plateau and the Rennesberg lime tree natural monument (as a stump) are also worth mentioning. In addition to the views already mentioned, the impressive panoramic views from Kaltbuch and from the Rennesberg lime tree are also highlights of this beautiful circular hiking trail.

Together with the Frankenweg and the FrankenwaldSteig, we walk through the entire grounds of the State Garden Show on whichever of the paths we choose, then over the Rodach and the B 85 to Fröschbrunn. Before the inn and the summer toboggan run, we turn right (view) and walk steadily uphill along a forest path until the path begins to descend again. We now walk uphill to the left on a comfortable forest path, past a long abandoned sandstone quarry to a small parking lot on the heights just before Kaltbuch. If we go just a few meters to the right, we can enjoy the beautiful view far across the wide valley of the Rodach to Küps and its outlying villages.

But we cross the road and continue in the forest in a right-hand bend on a pleasant path, accompanied by occasional, beautiful views, until we take a slight right-hand bend to the left on a path in the forest uphill to the Lucas Cranach Tower. We are delighted by the beautiful view, which we have already enjoyed outside. We follow the forest road to the left as far as the transmission mast and soon afterwards turn right along a pleasant, narrow, sandy forest path uphill to a forest road, a historic old road. There we turn right until we reach a spur road. We follow the old road (better on the path next to the path) further half-right downhill to the beer village in the Franconian Forest, to Weißenbrunn.

We walk past the church and fountain (Jungfer Kättl), then immediately turn left into Sandstraße and with it to the edge of the village in the forest. Behind the fountain is the brewery and brewery museum. The square in front of it, the "Paradies", offers the opportunity to take a break.

On a path to the right, we walk steeply uphill along the edge of a quartz sand pit until we reach a forest path, which we follow briefly to the right and immediately turn left again into the forest steeply uphill to the crossroads at the tree. We turn right along a comfortable forest path into the open, then walk along the edge of a large meadow accompanied by charming views up to the road. We cross the road and then follow the natural path through beautiful deciduous forest and then slightly downhill in the open with views and finally along a tree-lined farm track down to Wötzelsdorf.

After entering the village, we keep left and follow village roads to the end of the village before the main road. Before reaching the main road, we turn left and continue along the young Fischbach stream on a natural path, always alongside the stream, past two small, old bridges. We pass through a narrow alluvial forest to the district of Tauschendorf. There we turn left and walk to the sports center. From there, another natural path and then a village road lead to the castle and church in Fischbach. We take the local road downhill to the hollow and then turn left into Martin-Luther-Straße, past the cemetery, along a paved farm track to the Obere Allern elevation (further views). On an (unavoidable) land consolidation path, we descend slightly to the Schützenhaus and shortly afterwards to the main road of Vogtendorf, the birthplace of Johann Caspar Zeuß and Willi Schreiber, and continue to the right to the junction to Höfles. There we cross the Rodach bridge to Höfles.

However, we follow the local road straight ahead for a while and then turn right. After the farm at the end of the village, we walk along the footpath and cycle path through the open fields until shortly before Unterrodach. Shortly before the B 173, we turn right and walk past the sewage treatment plant and then along the edge of the village to the B 173 in Unterrodach. We cross the main road at the petrol station and walk straight ahead on local roads and footpaths to Sachsenhausen and the rafting museum of the market town of Marktrodach, to Unterrodach. Just as the people of Frankfurt called their district on the Main Sachsenhausen, they gave their village area on the Rodach the same name.

In front of the church and town hall, we turn right at the building yard and walk up the narrow local road to the end of the village and then leisurely uphill on a pleasant meadow path to Birnbaum, where we meet the Frankenweg. Keeping to the left, we walk along a pleasant path through a beautiful hedgerow landscape alongside the forest and along the edge of the narrow valley. Soon there is a beautiful view to the west of the beautiful landscape of the Kreuzberg area, which is atypical for the Franconian Forest. We continue to the stump (Kyrill 2007) of the Rennesberg lime tree.

At the site of the once venerable lime tree, we then walk across the road, past the water house and along the path diagonally across the meadow to the opposite corner of the small meadow. There we walk across the large meadow to the road, which leads to the right through the meadow and then downhill in the forest to the Dörfles lime works. Immediately after the first houses, we turn left along a meadow path in the valley of the Kronach, which is covered with trees and bushes, until we reach the ponds. Now the Kronach accompanies us with the steps in the riverbed that slow down the flow. We pass a ford, a raft bridge and the banks lined with alders. On the left side of the valley, the terraced steps in the terrain are reminiscent of sandstone quarrying. We soon reach the Biegenmühle mill. We walk past the last houses in the town, then along the flood embankment of the Kronach and finally come to the main road at the hospital.

We follow it to the left, turn right after a while and come to the parking lot at Kaulanger with a left turn. At the end of the parking lot, the circular route leads left into the center of the 1000-year-old town.</p
