We follow Bergstraße out of town until we reach Hofer Straße, where we turn left towards Neudorf. Above the sports facility, we turn left and at the end of the sports facility we immediately take the field path downhill to the right and walk in a straight direction on meadow paths past ponds through a beautifully structured landscape to a field path and with it uphill to the right to the road. Follow it to the left to Neudorf and on to the Weberhaus at the end of the village towards the hamlet of Pinzig.
Here we recommend a visit to the Weberhaus Museum, which is well worth seeing and is part of the history of this village and its people. In 1877, there were 16 weaver families among the 44 households. Karl Wolfrum sat behind the loom in this house as the last of a long hand-weaving tradition until his death in 1964. His house was renovated and converted into a museum in 1971.
(May-September: open on Sundays and public holidays from 1-4 pm;
or by appointment: Stefan Ertel (09252/35117)).
We continue straight ahead in the direction of the secluded single Pinzig (source of the Rothenbach stream) at the edge of the forest, then turn right onto a field path to Jungfernbühl and follow it through the meadows on the heights with beautiful views. We then walk along various paths through a small wooded area until we reach the road to the idyllic hamlet of Adlanz where we turn right and turn left into the forest at the farm and soon reach the local road.
We follow this in a southerly direction, turn right at Waldeck and walk downhill on pleasant paths in the forest into the valley of the Rauschenbach stream. At the edge of the forest or in its immediate vicinity in the forest, we walk down the open, beautiful valley with its numerous ponds and reach a road.
With it we turn right to a garden area, where we keep left past the water tank towards the road, on which we reach Volkmannsgrün after a few meters. We briefly follow the road towards Schauenstein and then take the footpath and cycle path past the Dorschenhammer - with the listed railroad bridge over the Selbitz on the left - back to the road.
The Dorschenhammer, first mentioned in 1381 as Spetlingshammer (1774: "Oberer Hammer"), is the manor house of the former hammer estate. In 1622, a tipper mint was established by the Schauenstein bailiff. Three different coins were minted which yielded a treasure of 500,000 guilders for Margrave Christian's household. In 1850, the property - unused for 50 years - was converted into a dye works, which did not operate for long; today: private property.
On the left, we see the Lehstenmühle mill. Immediately after the mill, the slate area begins after the gneiss. Through the railroad underpass we come to Schauenstein, where we return to our starting point via the "Wiesengrund", Poststraße and Untere Peunte.
