Description by the author

We start our circular walk at the train station, cross Talstraße, walk past the central parking lot, follow Hofer Straße and turn right into Frankenwaldstraße and follow it, together with the Ozünder-Weg (green "O") out of town. At the edge of the town, we cross under the B173, immediately turn left and walk slightly downhill along the main road until we come to a track coming from the left. We walk along the field path, continuing along the "Ozünder-Weg", through the meadow until we reach the museum path.

We turn right along this path and walk further up the valley, close to the single Garles and past the well-kept ponds. After walking along the edge of the valley for a while, we turn sharply to the left and follow a steep path in the forest up to a forest road. Continue uphill to the right to reach the Garles rock with a seating area and a fantastic view.

Here we also come across the Marlesreuth legend trail.

We continue along the same path for a good distance, turn right just before the hill, walk through the forest and finally in the open through the meadows, always in a straight direction, to the beginning of Marlesreuth and on to the hiking board in the center of the village.

At the top left, we could see the "Kapfigten Stein" in the field (legend!). During the highly recommended visit to the Handweaver Museum, knowledgeable people vividly introduce us to the life and work of the handweavers and take us back in time to the bygone era of our "Handweber-Frankenwald". The church with its historic furnishings and wooden coffered ceiling from 1717 with 25 pictures is also worth a visit.

We cross the church village at the hand weaving museum near the church, which is well worth seeing.

We cross the district road and, accompanied by beautiful views, continue through the meadows at the edge of the forest and downhill in the forest to the once historically significant hamlet of Nestelreuth, the former seat of a manor. We take the road to the right and turn left after the hamlet onto a field and meadow path and walk over the small hill downhill to Schottenhammer.

Before we reach the agricultural hamlet, we take the road to the right to the cycle path on the former railroad track and follow it to Marlesreuther Straße just before Naila. We soon meet up with our access path from the station again and turn left and come back to the underpass that we already know from the start of our hike. Now it is no longer difficult to find the way back to the station.</p
