Description by the author

We leave the village - with its large bathing lake in the middle of the source area of the Selbitz with children's playground, Kneipp pool, beach volleyball court and large sunbathing lawn - on the footpath and cycle path towards Helmbrechts. Immediately after the village, before the hill, we turn left and follow a natural field path through beautifully landscaped fields, then a pleasant forest path in a left turn to the road. We follow it downhill to the left for a good 200 m and turn right onto a field path into the forest, where we soon come to a detour to the source of the Selbitz. Only the pond is visible here, into which one (sometimes two) inflow of spring water can be seen.

Back to the hiking trail. The path soon climbs quite steeply on pleasant paths to the height of the 698 m high Reusenberg and the forest stadium in Wüstenselbitz. Past the sports field, we walk downhill to the left along the road, turn right after the training ground and follow the field path, past the individual properties of the hamlet of Buckel, until we reach the watershed path at the edge of the forest (over at Waldeck: the refuge at the former single Eng). We turn left onto a forest path and soon turn left again onto a forest path and soon come out into the open. With a beautiful view of the charming valley landscape, we walk downhill along the edge of the forest until we reach the footpath and cycle path at the Brücklasteich pond on the road, which we use to reach our starting point via Burkersreuth.

According to Richard Seuß, its name has nothing to do with a bridge, but is derived from "Bruch", which means "bog or swamp ground overgrown with shrubs" (Middle High German Bruoch = swamp, moor). The reason for the construction of the bridge load pond was the Carolingian trade route that led from Forchheim via Kulmbach, Marktleugast and Ahornberg to Hof.</em
