Description by the author

At the information board for the circular hiking trails starting from Schnappenhammer, there are accompanying booklets for the Lamitz Trail. The circular hike, marked with the purple flake flower, begins to the left of the parking lot, where we first climb steeply uphill on a forest path and soon reach the first station on "Geology".

At the next fork, we continue to the right and enjoy the atmosphere of the high spruce forest so typical of the Franconian Forest. It has not yet fallen victim to the bark beetle. We pass the "Victory of the spruce" station and stay on the path that leads along the slope into the valley. Soon there is a narrow turn-off to the right down into the valley on a path covered in roots and moss to the "Wiesental" station.

We return to the forest path and follow it further through the forest until our path bends to the right down to the Lamitz. Before the ford through the stream, the flower points to the left onto a grass path directly on the bank. After approx. 120 m, we cross a wooden footbridge to the "rafting" station. Behind the footbridge, we walk upstream along the stream - and soon discover the first beaver tracks: gnawed and bent tree trunks lie in the water. The slope on the other bank becomes rocky and borders the valley. We reach the "Reforestation of the valleys" station and cross a stream on stones lying in the water. This is where the most beautiful part of the hike begins, as we enter the large area where the water is allowed to find its own way. From our meadow path, we see small streams, pools and ponds, the water glistening in the sun everywhere. How nice that we soon reach a bench where we can rest and enjoy this idyll and have a picnic. As we continue on our way, we keep seeing the large and small constructions of the industrious beavers.

We reach the "Renaturation" station and come to a narrow footbridge that leads us to the left across the watercourse. We now walk a short distance through the forest, turn right on the forest path that crosses it, cross the stream again on a footbridge, leave the gravel path immediately over the next board to the left and continue along the meadow path by the stream. The path now leads briefly towards the road, but shortly before that we turn left again onto a grassy path and balance over a plank to the "Frankenwaldtäler" station directly by the stream. We cross the last footbridge, which leads us to the slope, which we then have to climb.

The path curves to the left and climbs up the slope.

A view from above of the water landscape and the mountains lining the valley rewards us for the climb. We turn left on the crossing path and follow it first into the forest, then across the open field to Wellesberg. In the center of the village, we reach the "Leben im Frankenwald" (Life in the Franconian Forest) station and follow the Flockenblume on a tarred road to the left in a south-westerly direction out of the small village. At a wayside shrine, the tarred road turns back into a gravel path and we follow our flower downhill along the edge of the forest and meadow. After a bend to the right, we see the station of a crossroads. In the following left-hand bend, we stay on our path, which now leads past fields and the last station "Landschaft" (landscape) over the ridge before descending into the Rodach valley. At the next crossroads, the Wallenfelser Höhenweg (blue 6), which has accompanied us since Wellesberg, leads straight ahead. We keep left here to take the less steep path.

When the path turns left into a deep hollow path, we take the forest path above to get back to the Schnappenhammer almost parallel to the slope.
