Ostschleife "Spiegelnde Wasser" - Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel

Daily stage 1: Hoher Peißenberg - Peißenberg - Polling - Weilheim, 18 km

The first stage of the eastern loop of the Pfaffenwinkel Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail takes us from Hoher Peißenberg to Weilheim in Upper Bavaria. We cross the gently rolling hills of the foothills of the Alps and enjoy magnificent views of the Alpine massif. Along the way, we pass several chapels, hike along the Ammer river and can marvel at the churches of Peißenberg and Polling.

Daily stage 2: Weilheim - Magnetsried - Bernried, 22.5 km

The second stage of the long-distance hiking trail of the Ostschleife Heilige Landschaft Pfaffenwinkel takes us from Weilheim in Upper Bavaria to Bernried. Extensive moor and swamp areas, idyllic lakes and picturesque forests accompany the route to Lake Starnberg. On this stage, the many chapels and churches show us how the Pfaffenwinkel got its name.

Daily stage 3: Bernried - Seeshaupt - Penzberg (Promberg), 14.5 km

The third stage of the eastern loop of the Pfaffenwinkel Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail takes us from Bernried to Promberg near Penzberg. The highlight of this stage is the path along Lake Starnberg. We enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the lake and the Alpine massif.

Day stage 4: Penzberg (Promberg) - Benediktbeuern, 14 km

The fourth stage of the eastern loop of the Pfaffenwinkel Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail takes us from Promberg to the monastery complex in Benediktbeuern. Along the way, you can marvel at the church in Nantesbuch and the St. Georg branch church in Bichl before reaching one of the Pfaffenwinkel's most popular sights.

Daily stage 5: Benediktbeuern - Penzberg - Iffeldorf, 21 km

The fifth stage of the Pfaffenwinkel East Loop of the Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail takes us from Benediktbeuern to Iffeldorf. On this stage, we marvel at Benediktbeuern Monastery, the Heuwinkl Chapel and St. Vitus Church in Iffeldorf. In Penzberg, we hike in the Berghalde recreation area in the footsteps of the mining industry and learn interesting facts about the history of the town of Penzberg.

Alternative: Day stage 4 short: Penzberg (Promberg) - Penzberg - Iffeldorf, 15 km

To shorten the tour a little, we can also hike from Penzberg (start of stage 4) directly to Iffeldorf (end of stage 5). We start the fourth stage of the Pfaffenwinkel Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail in Promberg near Penzberg. On this stage, we pass the town center of Penzberg before arriving in Iffeldorf at the Osterseen lakes. The detailed description can be found here.

Daily stage 6: Iffeldorf - Huglfing, 26 km

The sixth stage of the eastern loop of the Pfaffenwinkel Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail takes us from Iffeldorf to Huglfing, through the beautiful Osterseen area and dense forests. This tour promises plenty of nature in the Pfaffenwinkel region.

Daily stage 7: Huglfing - Peißenberg, 15 km

The seventh stage of the eastern loop of the Pfaffenwinkel Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail takes us from Huglfing to Peißenberg to the Böbinger Ammerbrücke bridge. We hike on varied paths through the picturesque hilly landscape of the Pfaffenwinkel before the challenging descent to the Ammerbrücke bridge begins from Buchen.

Daily stage 8: Peißenberg - Hoher Peißenberg, 8.5 km

The eighth and final stage of the eastern loop of the Pfaffenwinkel Sacred Landscape long-distance hiking trail takes us from Peißenberg to Hoher Peißenberg. We hike on varied and little-used paths to the panoramic mountain of the Pfaffenwinkel, where we reach the destination of the long-distance hiking trail.
