Rund um Rottenbuch

The starting point is at the large intersection at the Fohlenmarkt parking lot. After a slight ascent through the districts of Weihanger and Solder, you reach woods and meadows. Soon you can decide whether to take a detour - past the Schutzengelkappelle chapel - to Mühlegg with its magnificent views. Continue in the direction of the Pest cemetery. Shortly afterwards, you can shorten the route through the Rochustal and Moos valleys. If you opt for the long option, you will reach the Schmauzenberg via the Vogelherd with beautiful views of the village and the mountains. Now it's downhill again and between Hochkreit and Schweinberg you cross a wild and romantic bridge over the Talbach gorge. The last section follows a beautiful footpath along the edge of the forest and leads into a hollow with former monastery ponds. From there, it is a short, steep climb and with one step through the arch of the monastery wall, you are in the lower monastery courtyard. Before returning to the starting point, you should definitely visit the former monastery church "Mariae Geburt".
