Description by the author

The nature adventure trail leads along 4 stations where you can learn about trees, insects and birds interactively and also get active yourself at a sound station. Along the way, there are always very special views of the Alps and the extensive Loisach-Kochelseemoos. With its two playgrounds, the loop is particularly interesting for families with children, but is only suitable for baby carriages to a limited extent due to the relatively steep passage on the ascent to the plateau.

On the Penzberger Berghaldenpfad, we also follow in the footsteps of Penzberg mining. The cable car memorial and the information boards bear witness to the long tradition of mining in Penzberg and preserve the memory on the specially created themed trail. For walkers and outdoor sports enthusiasts, there are also hiking trails with idyllic rest areas, beach volleyball courts, a children's playground, summer curling lanes and a street hockey pitch. In winter, curling rinks, a small drag lift, ice rink and toboggan slope provide recreational fun at the Berghalde.

Further information and links: From the 70 m high Berghalde viewing terrace, you can enjoy a very special view of the Alps and the extensive Loisach-Kochelseemoos. The hill was formed from the overburden that was produced in the Penzberg mine from around 1800 in roughly equal parts with the pitch coal mined. The mound therefore also stands for the amount of coal mined here. Today it serves as a leisure and recreation area close to the town with a wide range of activities. The mining museum, which was redesigned in 2013, provides an insight into the history of the Penzberg mine.
