Way description: We start our tour on the Kirchweg in an easterly direction and cross under the railway tracks. We leave the village in a north-easterly direction via Gräbenbachweg. At a crossroads, the path continues eastwards through the nature reserve to the banks of the Ammer, which we follow northwards until we reach a bridge on the state road. We cross under this and come to Fischen. In Fischen, we pass the Maria-Hilf chapel and continue along the main road towards Herrsching. After about 2.5 km, we change to the lakeside path along the Ammersee, which we follow to our destination. On the way, we pass the White Column in Wartaweil, which was erected by Dießen fishermen around 1629. It marked the point of arrival and departure for Andechs pilgrims and other ferry passengers, as there were no houses for miles around here at the time. Anyone who could no longer fit into the boat was told: "Wait a Weil, then I'll be back!" So the original place name "Zur weißen Säule" quickly became "Wartaweil".
