Description by the author

The barefoot path is located between the western outskirts of Penzberg and Gut Hub, just under a kilometer away, with its beautifully situated refreshment stop at Café Extra. External visitors start their barefoot hike there, at the entrance to the terrace, while the people of Penzberg like to use the path for a barefoot walk from the outskirts of the town to Gut Hub. In total, the barefoot hiking route is 1.8 km long, for which you should allow approx. 1 hour.

From Café Extra, ground plates with colorful footprints indicate the walking direction through the charming landscape typical of the Alpine foothills. A 500 m long connecting path to the Hub Chapel leads past a children's play area, over a wobbly chain footbridge and then 90 m along the grassy edge of a gravel farm track. It then turns left along a meadow path, past a row of pegs for balancing, a little downhill to the edge of the reed belt of the Hubersee lake, then a little uphill again in the forest via feeling stations with pieces of stone, wood and sand.

Now the visitor reaches the 800 m long circular trail around the wooded area near the Hub Chapel, which is reached after passing the "Ochsenklavierbrücke" bridge. There are benches on both sides of the chapel, which some families use as resting places.

Continue along the edge of the forest towards the houses of Penzberg and then turn left along the edge of the town. The marked circular trail contains further adventure stations: Feeler trails with pebbles and spruce cones, balancing options on a tree trunk and over boulders and the popular mud hole at the deepest point.

After crossing a forest floor carpet made of soft larch needles, you finally reach the connecting path to Gut Hub again, but of course you also have the freedom to walk the circular path again at the special request of children who are hungry for exercise!

For family and school walks, there is the barefoot rally and the sensory walk - each available as a two-page printable leaflet. The barefoot trail is accessible all year round and is maintained from the beginning of May to the end of September. Admission is free. There is also a foot washing facility at the starting point.
