For this hike, we used the Südeifel Nature Park Trail No. 61 Ferschweiler-Ernzen, which we adapted a bit. It's best to bring a GPX track and/or a ticket with you. If you want to hike the full loop No. 61, you can download the data via the link above.

For this route, we started from the parking lot at Dinosaur Park Teufelsschlucht heading towards Ernzen, a small village that can be quickly crossed. It’s nice to take a break at the holy Roman monument in Ernzen and then climb up to the Ferschweiler Plateau. There you have a beautiful view of the surroundings.

The hike continues to Ferschweiler, where we deviated from the route. If you wish, you can continue to follow the markings 61. They will then lead you back to this route. From Ferschweiler, you reach a field path that leads the hiker to a steeply descending road (K21). You follow this for a short distance before descending into the forest at the curve. From here, it goes along narrow paths towards Waldhofbach, a swiftly flowing stream that was now almost dried up. We had already been here in March with the devilish 8. Due to the rainy weather, it looked quite different.

Follow marking 61 until you meet a wide, well-maintained field road on the left side. This is done to return to the parking lot.

The reason for the route change was that we passed a small honey shop (Honiglädchen). You can buy delicious fresh honey products here. The beekeeping at the Nature Park Center is run by Irrel beekeeper Ulf Britzen. Visitors are welcome here and can learn directly from experts about bees and their sweet products. In the small beekeeper shop, you can not only buy honey but also bee products such as candles, soaps, creams, and similar items. You can find the opening hours on this page.
