A short stroll through the historic core of Brüggen.
The Counts of Kessel built the castle from its foundations between 1264 and 1284. The castle was originally first inhabited in 1289. Of the four towers, only the main hall and one tower have been preserved; nevertheless, Brüggen boasts one of the most significant moated castles in the Lower Rhine region. Near the castle, there are remnants of casemates.
