The number of altimeters based on garminconnect is 1800 meters. The ride includes a dead-end climb to Burg Bürgeln. If you do not want to take this climb, the ride is 63 km long, and 150 meters of elevation gain (so a total of 1650 meters) will be lost.

First, you cycle through the vineyards to Badenweiler, the place that has been a spa since Roman times. And from there, the ascent (on moderate road surfaces) to the Blauen (or Hochblauen) at an elevation of 1165 meters begins. The last kilometers are dead ends, and there is a restaurant at the top (which will reopen only after renovation in November 2024) and a watchtower.

Then it goes down to Marzell, and you cycle on very quiet roads above the Kanderntal, climbing (steeply) to the Vogelbach (with a beautiful view) and descend to Sitzenkirch. The landscape here looks very idyllic, and the roads are very quiet in terms of traffic. Next, you climb towards Schallsingen. Before Schallsingen, the decision arises: Do you ascend the beautiful Schloss Bürgeln (with a very nice view towards the Vosges), or do you skip it... Whatever you decide, the route goes (regardless of your choice) through Schallsingen and you climb towards Lipburg to the Rheintaler Höhe (with a beautiful view of the Rhine valley during the descent to Lipburg). Afterwards, you cycle on quiet county roads, side streets, and farm roads (partly inaccessible for a support vehicle) through the vineyards back to Heitersheim.
