The Shared Blies

This 11.8 km circuit offers a pleasant path on either side of the Blies, a wild river that marks the border between France and Germany, from Sarreguemines to Bliesbruck.

At the starting and ending point, a visit to the Museum of Faience Techniques, located at the Moulin de la Blies in Sarreguemines, which houses an important collection of machine tools dedicated to ceramic production and its Faïencier garden, should not be missed under any circumstances.

Your steps will lead you to the villages of Blies-Guersviller, a typical Lorraine village, and Graefinthal, then into the heart of the Sitterswald forest in Germany, at the border with Sarreguemines. The forest is part of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the midst of nature, you will be surrounded by a preserved natural environment, composed of a great variety of other trees such as maple, hazel, black alder, hawthorn, larch, sessile oak, wild cherry, black ash, spruce, Vancouver fir, walnut, as well as other plants (bulrush, ivy with its vines and fruits, hedgerow clematis, anemone, coltsfoot, lesser celandine and fragrant violets, orchids, ...).
