The border route

If you have plenty of time and are in decent shape, a huge experience awaits you on the Border Route, which weaves in and out between Denmark and Germany. Partly on smaller paved roads and partly on gravel paths. The route between the Vidå sluice in the Wadden Sea and Flensburg can, of course, also be divided into smaller segments, with overnight stays along the way.

On the 130 km journey, you will experience the marsh's endless vast nature in the west, inland dunes and heathlands characterizing the spirit, and the hilly landscapes in the east, shaped by the Ice Age, as well as a long series of cultural highlights. Along the way, selected places have been equipped with information boards featuring both maps and stories about the area's attractions.

Keep an eye out for the blue cycling route signs along the way, marked 'Border Route', and note that the route is not a round trip.
