This route combines two climbs from the Kinzig valley: the Brandenkopf-southwest and the Moosenmättle west. The first climb is the toughest in the Central Black Forest and ranks among the top 10 in the entire Black Forest. It is a very nice climb for cyclists. The road is narrow and largely has a good surface (as of 2026), and there is hardly any traffic. The first half runs through the beautiful Fischerbachtal, which is dominated by meadows and forests. After that and up to the summit, the route continuously leads through the forest. The climb ends at the top of the Brandenkopf, where you can recover from the efforts on the terrace. The descent heads eastward towards Walcke in the Wolf valley. The road surface in the upper part of the descent is in poor condition (as of 2026), while the lower part is scenically beautiful. From Walcke the route, descending slightly, leads to Wolfach and from there runs briefly downstream along the Kinzig. Then the climb to Moosenmättle begins, once again through beautiful surroundings. This climb is less strenuous than the climb to the Brandenkopf (381 vs. 716 climb effort points). The subsequent descent to Hornberg contains a particularly steep section. From Hornberg, the route continues easily along a cycle route to its starting point in Hausach.

The tour can, of course, also be completed in the reverse direction. In that case, too, there are two notable climbs: the Schondelhöhe – with a steepest kilometer of 15.9% – and the Brandenkopf-east.
