WWu Rüdesheim - Norden

Route from Rüdesheim am Rhein on busy roads through the Rhine-Taunus Nature Park. The traffic is not so bad (cycled on a weekday at the end of March).

You start in Rüdesheim am Rhein, where you follow the R3a cycle path to Rüdesheim. Then cycle up a steep slope via the K630. Take the L3454 and L3272 to Presberg, where you descend via the L3272 to Lorch-Ranselberg.

Via the L3397 it goes through the Sauerthal to Ransel. On the way you will see "Burg Sauerburg" on the left side of the road and you can enjoy the view.
You pass the towns of Rettershain, Lipporn, Welterod and Strüth via the L337, L333, L335 and L336. You leave Rhineland-Palatinate and drive via Zorn in Hessen on the L3031, turn right to Nauroth on the L3035. Then it goes via Dickschied to the L3033 at the Wisper.

Turn right onto the L3033 and follow the L3035 in the direction of Niedergladbach, Obergladbach. Once at the top, there is an exit via the L3035 to Kiedrich and on to the Rhine in Eltville am Rhein.

From here you follow the flat cycle path R3 westwards along the banks of the Rhine to Rüdesheim am Rhein. At the end of this cycle path you cycle past the ruins of the Hindenburg Bridge.

Total distance: 88km, 3 long slopes along the way with sloping roads in between. At the end, a flat stretch of about 13 kilometers along the Rhine.

If you don't want to cycle on the Rhine Cycle Path, you can follow the R3a cycle path from Kiedrich to Geisenheim and Rüdesheim am Rhein.
